This park, situated in Section A, Khayelitsha, was the result of a special partnership project called “Peace Trees South Africa 1995″. Youth from all over the world joined the youth of Khayelitsha for three weeks in April 1995. They transformed a dry desert into the first decent community managed park in Khayelitsha. The ground cover, shrubs and trees are indigenous Cape Flora. This was made possible by donations received from over 3 000 donors worldwide. The park is a national model and has earned a number of awards – The Green Trust-WWF environmental award 1995, the Presidents Social Forestry Award 1996 and the Woman of the Year award 2001 for its Chairperson Christina Kaba.
